The Homeland Security Foundation (HSF), Inc. is establishing a Scholarship Fund to help firefighters, medical personnel, police, rescue workers and others personnel classified as “first responders” to improve their education and preparedness. The Scholarship Fund is being created with donations from private individual, groups and corporations as well as government donations. The private sector money will be matched with funds coming from the local, state and federal government.
The Scholarship
Fund will also encourage academy
institutions to develop programs which will enable “the first responders”
to be
well qualified in handling issues of bioterrorism, terrorist threats and attacks,
natural disaster, emergency response, institutional coordination, conflict
resolutions, etc. The fund will encourage obtaining degrees of bachelors, masters and
Ph.Ds in issues of Public Health and Homeland Security.
Another area of
interest of the Scholarship Fund is to promote certificate programs and
educational seminars to increase the level of preparedness and readiness of the
general public in threats and terrorist attacks. Emphasis will be given to
provide training to small business owners in big cities and their employees,
school teachers, school administrators, and students from middle and high schools.
If you and/or your institutions want to collaborate with this effort, please, contact us by e-mail. Please, tell us how you would like to participate and the project (s) you are working on right now in this area.
